Who We Are:

Minnesota MATEC provides health care professionals involved in the field of HIV clinical care and management with up to date educational opportunities. Minnesota MATEC is located at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health Division of Epidemiology and Community Health. Minnesota MATEC is a local project site for the National AIDS Education & Training Centers (AETC) network of over 130 sites in all 50 states invested in educating health care professionals. Minnesota MATEC's regional headquarters are located at the University of Illinois, Chicago. With an array of experts in the field, Minnesota MATEC is able to tailor training opportunities for individuals, organizations, and institutions.

The course functions as an introduction to HIV nursing for new staff members recently joining HIV medical practices, a review for seasoned RNs and NPs and a study aid to nurses wishing to take the ACRN exam.

The Facts:

  • In FY 2008, 767 Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Advance Practice Nurses, Pharmacists and Dentists received training.
  • In FY 2007, 500 hours of training were provided.
  • TCAC has been an important local source of information for 25 years.
